Creating the catalogue (Research Zines)

Image
Zines "Zine- A magazine, especially a fanzine" The purpose of a Zine is to provide a safe space for expression of creativity, especially within the underrepresented and marginalised communities.  I looked into Zines as inspiration for the catalogue as they are the exact style that we are looking to recreate. The very hand-made but aesthetic style.  Zines feel really personalised to the exact style of what the creator has wanted it to look like.  I thought a Zine style would work really well with the course as FIMS make them on their course. Also it matches the style of the course's work.

Choosing the font

For the font I wanted it to be quite simple and accessible over a variety of platforms. So I decided to use Arial as the main font and for titles the font 'Lorimer No2' it is a font that is free to download from Adobe if you have the cloud.

Colour scheme making

Image
I began to make the colour scheme by looking into the modern industrial theme in general. It tends to be a lot of grey and brown tones, with pops of colours.  I then made some options that I thought would match this theme well. I then sent this to the rest of the group and we all decided upon the second one.

Designing the logo

I then began to create a logo, I thought it was best to just stick to the name of the course instead of creating a name for the exhibition, as that depends more on the course.  I wanted the style of the logo to be distorted in one way or another. So I tried out different styles of distortion. I did some where there were cut outs in the letters, I did this by cutting a block out of one of the letters then removed it from the letters, then did this for each of the letters in FIMS.  I then tried to do some distorted ones, I played around using the liquify tool on Photoshop, it was cool to be able to play around with some tools I haven't used in a long time.  I then cut out sections of the letters to create a slightly distorted look, like something was off. I did these by using the lasoo tool and moving parts of the letter around to create that style.  Next I played around with the distortion tools, just to play with perspective. Finally I tried to make a 3D style logo. ...

19/04/2021 Client and Manuel feedback

We had a meeting with Manuel where he gave us the feedback from the client, as well as he went through the feedback that he gave us. Notes I got good feedback from the client Show the structure- didn't explain fully Clients Here is the feedback from the client to me: "Introduction  to project –  is concise, clear and professional  in addressing the  Virtual Degree Show  for Fashion Design. All 3 elements proposed are appropriate for the target market,  i.e.  recruitment, employers and family/friends. The approach of a modern & Industrial aesthetic works well in context of the programme and aligns with ensuring work is communicated in an uncluttered way …. overall a good choice for virtual exhibiting." It is all quite positive, and I'm happy with it for this far into the project. Manuel's of For Manuel's feedback it says that we identified the problems well and showed creative solutions. Analysis could have been more exhaustive- I did not look at t...
