We had a meeting with Manuel where he gave us the feedback from the client, as well as he went through the feedback that he gave us.

Clients

Here is the feedback from the client to me:

"Introduction to project – is concise, clear and professional in addressing the Virtual Degree Show for Fashion Design. All 3 elements proposed are appropriate for the target market, i.e. recruitment, employers and family/friends. The approach of a modern & Industrial aesthetic works well in context of the programme and aligns with ensuring work is communicated in an uncluttered way …. overall a good choice for virtual exhibiting."

It is all quite positive, and I'm happy with it for this far into the project.

Manuel's of

For Manuel's feedback it says that we identified the problems well and showed creative solutions. Analysis could have been more exhaustive- I did not look at the website from last year (I was unable to find it).

It was structured well. Clearly stated proposals.

Well organised, but was not cohesive. There was no introduction at the beginning, or sound levels were different, different style of presenting. I will take this into account for the next presentation, and ensure that we stick to the same style. Unfortunately, it is mostly Glenn and Emily's push back on these issues, as I tried to get an introduction slide, and they both did not stick to the powerpoint presentation we put together together. 

Some creative decisions could have been better explained. Yeah I should have given more of an explanation, I will keep this in mind for the next presentation. 

Good terminology, and well identified key terms.

Putting together final catalogue

 So I began by making an initial blocking of what my layout would be. I just made this in Indesign.   I then started to put together the final pages, I did this by making assets that fit the sizes of the boxes that I had planned out. I made these assets through many different ways. Such as I used the liquify tool in Photoshop and mixed colours to create the big pieces. Or I used the polygonal lasoo tool to create ripped page effects in certain shapes.  Once I had filled the basic boxed shapes, I started to make some extra assets to fill in the space around the areas, such as the tape pieces or extra boxes.  I forgot to take any screenshots unfortunately as I tend to get very immersed in making it.

Initial catalogue style

I decided to make an initial catalogue, just to test out some layouts and some more interactive parts that I could use. I did this because I do know Indesign fairly well, however I have not used it in a more in-depth way before.  I just used some placeholders as I had not found any of the students work yet and this was just a quick version.  I found this really useful to do as it allowed me to play around with Indesign as I have not used it to make a magazine style project since I was in College. I also used the interactive part to add hyperlinks that allowed there to be functional buttons for the contents page, which is an area of Indesign I have not used before.

Week 12 Presentation prep

 I began the prep for the presentation by making the power point presentation that it was going to be based upon. As I was going first I decided to do a recap of the initial idea, so I asked everyone in the group to send me a bit of text that explained what their part of the project was. Glenn did not send me anything. I then started to build up the slides, by adding small bits of text and imagery.  I also made sure that the theme matched the branding of the project, by using the same colour scheme. Script Next I wrote the script here it is: 1. Hello, I’m Sophie Husteden, and I’ve been working on the branding, and the student catalogue. 2. So as a quick recap of the project, we are creating a virtual exhibition.  This will include a downloadable catalogue of students work.
