Week 12 Presentation prep
I then started to build up the slides, by adding small bits of text and imagery.
I also made sure that the theme matched the branding of the project, by using the same colour scheme.Script
Next I wrote the script here it is:
1. Hello, I’m Sophie Husteden, and I’ve been working on the branding, and the student catalogue.
2. So as a quick recap of the project, we are creating a virtual exhibition.
This will include a downloadable catalogue of students work. A virtual exhibition space that will have spaces to showcase each student work in an immersive environment. We will also have a gallery area that will be used to showcase students work. We also will have a virtual catwalk environment, designed to allow people to view outfits that students have made for their work in a new way, more than just a mannequin. With the students work added to this space, users can choose what work they wanted to view on the clothes hangers within the room as well as being able to view it on a model walking down the runway. And finally we will create a website that will be the base for the project, where the exhibition spaces will be featured, as well as an area where the students work can be shown.
3. In our first presentation we decided that we wanted to use a modern industrial style for the branding. This was due to this matching the overall style of the New Adelphi building as we were originally going to base our exhibits in this building.
4. However, after doing more research into the Fims course, we realised that this style does not match with the kind of work that we found from the students. So, we changed the stylising to match the style of the course more. We decided on a modern abstract theme, what I would describe as messy sketch book vibes.
5. I then created some initial ideas for the logo. I wanted it to look like a glitch of some kind, this is because it matches the modern abstract style that we decided upon.
6. For the final logo, we decided upon this one. We chose this one because it is only slightly distorted, which means it’s still legible.
7. For the colour scheme, put together these five, I wanted to create a wide variation on modern colours to choose from. As a group we decided upon the second row, I then added some extra grey tones into the final one.
8. And here’s the final style sheet
9. I then began to design the catalogue, I wanted to lay it out like a magazine as I thought that would go along well with the course.
10. I began by looking into zines. I really like the way that a lot of them are created by physically cutting and gluing text and images together. The style of zines matches well with the aesthetic that we decided upon for the branding as well.
11. I then looked into scrapbooks. These are produced similarly to zines and tend to look quite similar. I really liked how people would overlap different materials and use tape on the edges of pictures. From both the zines and scrapbooks, I really liked the hand-made look that they have, they are put together in a way that looks really aesthetic but still shows the personality behind it.
12. Here is my initial version of the catalogue. I stuck to the style of what a typical fashion magazine would be laid out in. I just used place holders to emulate the students work. So, for the order of pages, I wanted to have it start with a content page, then move to a page that has a description of the course, then move onto a double page spread for each student.
13. Through creating this initial version, i worked on creating the catalogue as an interactive PDF. So, it can include hyperlinks to the virtual exhibition, and website. There can be buttons in the content page so you can go straight to a certain student. Also, you can include videos not only photos.
14. Here is the final version of that I created, I used students work off of the windows of opportunity site. I created the cover art by using colours from the colour scheme and using the liquify tool in photoshop. In this version of the catalogue, I made it so each student only had one page instead of a double page spread, as when I looked at the Windows of opportunity there was not a lot of content per student.
15. Thank you for listening
I decided to cut the part about creating an interactive PDF as it did not make that much sense.
